The workshop was organised by the Department of Textiles, Government of Meghalaya on the 12h of July 2022 at the State Convention Centre, Shillong.

The workshop was inaugurated in the presence of various dignitaries from the Central Silk Board and the Department of Textiles. Local weavers, silk rearers and entrepreneurs also attended the workshop.

The welcome address was delivered by Shri. T. Lyngwa, IAS Secretary, Department of Textiles and the Keynote address was delivered by Shri. F. R. Kharkongor, Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Textiles, where he talked about focusing on the sustainable livelihood of Eri farmers of the state with Silk Samagra-2.

The second Silk Samagra Scheme, being the improved version of Silk Samagra 1 will cater to silk reelers and potential self-employers/entrepreneurs as it will focus on training and assistance with technology-based machines.
