Ka Jainsem
This is a traditional attire worn by the Khasi women of Meghalaya, covering the body from shoulder to the knee. It consists of two unstitched pieces (separately for face side & back side), each of two yards, tied at the shoulder & hangs loose from the shoulder. The Jainsem is worn during different traditional/cultural occasions and also as formal attire. This is woven on handlooms using different natural fibres like cotton, mulberry silk, eri spun silk, muga silk etc. with tribal designs & colour combination.
