Lawbah situated 82km from Shillong falls under Mawsynram C&RD Block, East Khasi Hills and is one of the handloom clusters recognized by the Textile Department, Government of Meghalaya for the Cluster Development Project under NERTPS.

Under the scheme, the women weavers of the cluster have enhanced their knowledge in weaving leading to improvement in product design, product value, product lines and labour productivity which has increased their livelihoods significantly.
