Masterful Weaving of the Khat-ar Lyngdoh

The Khat-ar Lyngdoh belonging to the Bhoi tribe, a sub-tribe of the main Khasi tribe of Meghalaya, are known to be skilled weavers in designing technique.

The khmat (eye) designs that looks like a triangle is widely used by the Khat-ar Lyngdoh weavers. This design pattern is often found woven into their traditional dress, the thoh pan (dancers’ waistband) and the jainpein (wraparound skirt).
