Mulberry silkworms exclusively feed on the leaves of the white mulberry plant 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The silkworms are attracted to mulberry leaves because of a jasmine-scented chemical emitted in small quantities by the leaves triggering a single, highly tuned olfactory receptor in the silkworms' antennae.
