Preserving Meghalaya's Textile Heritage

Passed down textile possession shows and represents the rich textile history and culture of the state showcasing extraordinary motifs and natural dyes.

Meghalaya is rich in many traditional handloom weaving teachings as well as heirloom textiles that are passed down for generations, but some of these priceless possessions get lost with time.

This is mainly due to the practice of most tribes of the region where prized possessions are often buried when the owner passes away, leading to the end of the heirloom possession.
