Reviving the Weaves of Meghalaya.
The exquisite traditional Khneng embroidery from Mustoh and Shella region of Cherrapunjee is in the process of being rescued from the brink of extinction.
This woven treasure, mostly engaged by women with distinguished designs are being passed on to the next generation from an early age while assisting their mothers or elders.
With time, the participation of learning this art form is decreasing. The department encourages the youth who are interested in this old form of embroidery to come forward and train themselves so that we can conserve and preserve our weaving traditions.
