The term “Ryndia” is synonymous with Meghalaya. 'Ryndia' stems from the term 'Rynda' which means “Castor” the main food plant for Eri silkworms.
Ryndia is processed in the most traditional way with the technique of using handmade tools being passed down for generations.
Shawls made from Eri silk are considered of big value by the people of Meghalaya and are often passed down as an heirloom from mothers to daughters.
