The Koch are a small trans-border ethnic group of Assam and Meghalaya in India and northern Bangladesh.
The Koches of Meghalaya, recognized as schedule tribe of the North East, are mainly concentrated in the Western and South Western parts of the Western Garo Hills of Meghalaya.
With their own cultural practices, traditions, language, believes, the Koch tribe is also rich in textile heritage with knowledge on traditional handloom weaving with unique motifs designs different from other tribes in the state.
