Black wool is used on the checked Eri fabric to stitch Khneng embroidery.
Khneng embroidery, the oldest and only known embroidery technique of Meghalaya is an art form done by weavers of Mustoh on Eri silk fabric.
The technique that is used are basic running stitches resembling a centipede locally called ‘ktiar’.
The almost lost textile tradition is being revived through the interventions of NGOs like NESFAS closely working with the Department of Textiles.
