The traditional method of weaving Ryndia in Meghalaya is on the thain madan or the floor loom. It is a simple structure made entirely of local materials, bamboo and wood.
Nowadays, fly shuttle looms, frame looms and power looms have been introduced to improve the quality of fabric whereby weaving is done more with the softer weft threads and fewer warp threads leading to a very comfortable woolen texture with a unique shine.
